The Future Of Offline/Online Affiliate Marketing – QR Codes And Affiliate Marketing

The future is coming!

With the popularity of squeeze pages and OptIn Email lists among online affiliate marketers, it’s no surprise that people are coming up with some pretty creative ways to generate traffic to their websites.

In reality, combining offline marketing with an online squeeze page is nothing new.

Many marketers promoting CPA offers have already considered advertising their websites and Lead collecting landing pages by using offline tactics such as flyers, handouts, posters, and business cards.

Personally, I think it’s an absolutely brilliant way to generate additional streams of traffic to your offer. The problem mainly comes in getting people to follow through and take action on your offline promotions.

If you give them a business card, or if you have a flyer posted or handed out on the street, how many people do you think will actually keep it instead of throwing it away at the first trash can?

Out of those people, how many do you think will actually take the trouble to go home and visit your landing page?

Most likely, not very many…

This has always been the problem with offline promotions, the delay between when the message is viewed and when the customer can have the ability to take action on the offer(IE. Get to a computer and actually visit your website)

Luckily, with the increasing popularity of Mobile Smart Phones as well as the new QR codes, we can soon eliminate the time-delay between presenting an offer, and the consumer taking action on the offer.

QR codes, or ‘Quick Response’ codes, are little barcodes that when scanned by your mobile phone’s camera, will be able to navigate the user to any web address you choose to point them to.

Now, I’m sure you can see the immediate implications for us as affiliate marketers.

With the increase of mobile PPC ads, affiliates have already been generating mobile-compatible squeeze pages to capture leads.

Now, with QR codes, we can take advantage of free traffic that we will be able to send directly to any sueeze page or offer page, straight from a printed ad to a webpage on their smart phone.

Here are some ideas:

  • Choose a CPA offer for a free giveaway that pays per email submit. Print out flyers advertising the giveaway and include a QR code directing them to your affiliate link for the offer. Go to a busy part of town and get busy handing out and posting the flyers…
  • Include a free giveaway related to your niche on your business cards. Include a QR code that directs them to a limited time offer type of squeeze page with an email opt in. Whenever you hand someone your business card, they’ll be able to immediately check out the free giveaway on their mobile phone and opt-in to your list.
  • The options for QR codes really are infinite, with some creative thinking and the right offer, generating leads to your squeeze pages should be easy-as-pie…

So you might be asking yourself, “Why don’t I see more companies using these cool QR codes yet?”

Well, the problem for now is that to be able to use a QR code on your smart phone, you will first need a QR Reader/Scanner app installed on your phone.

Still, in parts of Europe, and even in North America, companies are already putting QR codes to work on billboards, print advertising, and even TV and Cinema ads.

I’m sure that in the future, QR readers/scanners will be included as a standard functionality on most if not all smart phones.

As you can see, the face of advertising is certainly changing at a rapid pace…
